Collaborative

SOCH is part of an elite group of 35 hospitals in New Jersey to join the NJHA’s ICU Collaborative.  Through this innovative project, hospitals took an in-depth examination of the Critical Care Unit, where the most critically ill patients are treated.

This collaborative encouraged participating hospitals to learn from each other through sharing successes and identifying areas for improvement.  The collaborative reinforced the development of simple strategies, such as re-positioning the bed to be sure the patient’s head is elevated to reduce the risk of ventilator associated pneumonia.

Thanks to involvement with the ICU Collaborative, SOCH has gone for over two years with no incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia in the Critical Care Unit.  Proof positive that collaborative quality improvement initiatives work.
