The Joint Commission
SOCH voluntarily submits to a rigorous quality review process
to earn accreditation by the Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits
nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United
States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint
Commission is the nation’s
predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
Since 1951, The Joint Commission has maintained state-of-the-art
standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care
provided by health care organizations.
In addition, the Joint Commission
has designated SOCH as a Hospital Quality Alliance Participant.
(Formerly National Voluntary Hospital Reporting Initiative) – By
earning this designation, a hospital has agreed to submit performance
measures for publication on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
(CMS) website. To date, 4,014 hospitals have volunteered to participate.
