Pastoral Care
Your healthcare team wants to assist you in meeting your emotional
and spiritual needs during your stay. To that end, SOCH offers patients
access to the Pastoral Care Program, a cooperative effort of the
Hospital and professional religious representatives from southern
Ocean County. The Program's objective is to provide the resources
necessary to identify and address the spiritual needs of patients
and their families.
The Pastoral Care Department has a brochure that lists the faiths
and local religious organizations that participate in the program.
It is available to any patient or family member. Also, each nursing
station has a list of local clergy to call in emergency situations.
Generally, within 24 hours of admission, you will receive a brief
visit from a clergy person from our community who donates time to
the hospital. He or she will confirm your religious affiliation,
if any. With your permission, he or she will notify your clergy person
of your admission to the hospital.
Questions regarding Pastoral Care can be referred to the Case Management
Department at 609-978-8900, ext. 2129 or the Chaplain's Office at
609-978-8900, 2373.
